Pella, the favorite for archaeologists; exceptionally rich in antiquities. It has been inhabited for more than ten thousand years. Evidences go back to earlier Hellenistic, Persian, Iron, Bronze, Chalcolithic, Neolithic, and Paleolithic periods. Later on Roman, Byzantine and Islamic periods. It was one of the cities of the Decapolis during the Greaco-Roman era. Among its remains the there are the Graeco Roman Odeon, a Chalcolitic settlement, walls from the Bronze & Iron ages, Byzantine churches and houses and a small Medieval Islamic Mosque in a residential Islamic quarter
